Tenney-Lapham Neighborhood Association CouncilMinutes

 


Present: Cheryl Wittke, Susan Baumann-Duren, Joe Brogan, Sandra Ward, Patrick McDonnell, Gay Davidson-Zielske, Adam Cain, Carol Weidel, Carole Trone, Gigi Holland, David Waugh, Ramsey Finger.
Guests: Brenda Konkel, Ed Jepsen, Jim Zychowicz, Sal Calomino, Jim Bower, John Haugen-Wente


Call to order 7:30.


1. Housekeeping issues
a. Meetings are the 4th Thursday of each month (except November and December 2004 – 3rd Thursdays in deference to the holidays).
b. At the Garden Apartments on Baldwin and Johnson
c. At 7 p.m.


2. Committees
a. Cheryl urged us to consider ways to strengthen our committees
b. She asked each committee Chair to think about plans, programs, and needs for the next year and to come to the November meeting with a draft of the budget that would be required to accomplish those ideas
c. She would like to spend less meeting time on committee reports and more time on substantive discussion
d. Committee chairs could submit monthly written reports of activity monthly


3. Jim Bower of the Central East Isthmus Working Group
a. He will facilitate a stake holder process regarding the East Washington rail corridor
b. Questions were raised as to how his group articulates with all of the other planning groups (e.g. BUILD)
c. There is a possibility of East Washington becoming a TIF district.
d. Jim asked for 1 or 2 TLNA representatives who could come to morning meetings (8:30 to 10:30) downtown. There will be one or two such meetings in the near future.

iii. Patrick McDonnell (backup)


4. John Haugen-Wente from Carl’s Paddlin
a. Come to seek TLNA support for a new dock on the West side of the Yahara River, north of East Washington
b. The Friends of Yahara Parkway are in support of this Ed Jepsen).
c. Gigi suggested using parts of the dock formerly placed at Gidding’s Park
d. Several people spoke in favor of TLNA supporting John’s request in writing.
e. Brenda urged that we submit a letter to Parks Division as soon as possible.
f. John will draft a letter and pull together some design concepts and bring these back to TLNA


5. Alder’s report -- Brenda will pull together a list of problems encountered in the East Washington reconstruction so that other neighborhoods do not have as much difficulty as we did.
